Ptuj is a lovely historic town.
Ptuj is a lovely historic town. There are thermal pools which are a little dated but still very pleasant. The best experience was the visit to the castle. After you buy your ticket you can visit an exhbition about local carnival tradition (Kurenti) and an exhibition showing the production of cotton, silk, linen and wool. Then you can go to the castle which has three floors. You can explore various exhibitions on your own, there are paintings, weapons, furniture, and a lot more. Very nice old town with a pleasant town centre. Easily walkable and nice pedestrianised areas. Quite a few sights to see, easily visitable in one or two days. Good choice of restaurants with lovely local food. We didn't do any cycling but it looks like a great place and area for cycling. The river and local area are interesting for birdwatching. Ptuj (especially city center) is nice, cozy (the oldest in Slovenia) town with rich history to tell, some really interesting bars and all that is reachable on foot. If you like beer, go to Bodi bar, if you like more "indie" scene go to Muzikakafe bar.

Small city, very nice, can see in a day or two. Outdoor cinema at local theater was great. Castle is cool. Terme Ptuj (waterpark) only fair. There is a free bus that can get you from the bus station (across street from train station) to center of city, and to Terme. we transited only, i passed through ptuj before, remember some bridge and river, some nice old architectiure downtown but nothing extraordinary to consider as tourist destination for more than a 1 night sleepover

The owner of the hotel met us by car. the hotel is very clean and in a quiet location. near the Ptujskie thermal baths. vthe vew from the balcony to the Castle. The Ptuj,'s center is half an hour walk along the beautiful river Dvana. There is a small kitchen in the room. but there were no tea bags and no sugar. but there was a gift from the hotel - a chocolate bar. We used the garden furniture and sat and enjoyed the beautiful panoramic view, hence the name of the B & B. Easy to walk into Ptuz to go to the restaurants. Loved having Robby the dog wandering around, it was like home from home, and the quiet little cat said Hello too! Fantastic breakfast. All in all, staying here was a one of the highlights of our holiday to Slovenia.
